Child Abuse Prevention Month

Child Abuse Prevention Month
Posted April 7th, 2014 @ 6:05am

You might have noticed the pinwheels that were placed near the entrance of Yoctangee Park over the weekend. Julie Oates, of the Child Protection Center, says the pinwheels are a grim representation of local child abuse, which increased from the previous year.

During Child Abuse Awareness Month, Oates says they are trying to push the issue to the forefront.

The 900 pinwheels on display at the entrance of Yoctangee Park represent the number of child abuse reports within Ross County in 2013, an increase from 2012.
