Engineering chair Dave Tatman added an item to the agenda, which was then passed, to work with ODOT to repave another part of US 50 though the city.

Engineer Tom Day said ODOT estimates repaving South Bridge Street to Eastern Avenue, and Eastern to Watt Street, will cost about $800,000, including underlying pavement repair and curbs and ramps.

The city must pay its share of $332,000...but most of that is covered by "Issue 2" funds, leaving only about $12,500 to come out of the budget.

Tatman said he has been worried about accuracy of the estimates since last year, but with passage Monday night, work should start this summer.

Tatman also announced that he is trying to start the process for a new city tax to fund street improvements, at only 0.2%.

He says he would like to see it voted on in November.  But he has not heard back from two requests just to get an assignment of it, to start discussion in committee.
