(AP) Ohio's attorney general plans several community forums about drug abuse in the next few months to discuss how to prevent drug-related crimes and addiction.
The series began with a Wednesday forum in Portsmouth. The state says that county saw a significant increase in drug overdose deaths in recent years and had the highest overdose rate per capita from 2007 to 2011.
Attorney General Mike DeWine says the forums will let residents discuss concerns with him and with legislative, health and law enforcement experts from their areas. Then a committee will review those forums and recommend steps to prevent addiction and reduce drug abuse around Ohio.
