Hopewell Vies for United Nations Recognition

Posted July 2nd, 2014 @ 8:27am

Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks is in line for United Nations recognition, for its World Heritage Opportunity.

Dr. Brad Lepper, an archaeologist with Ohio Historical Society Connection, says Hopewell in Ohio could be added to a small but impressive list of native American sites.

These sites are Hopewell Cultural National Historical Park, Fort Ancient and The Newark Earthworks.

Through the nomination process of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization- these Ohio treasures are poised to such cultural icons as the Pyramids and the Taj Mahal on the World Heritage list.
