Chillicothe "Earth Gathering" to Take Place SUNDAY

Come celebrate Earth Day in Yoctangee Park on the Pump House lawn. 

The Chillicothe Art League, presents its 18th annual Earth Gathering festival. EG was designed to promote Earth-friendly art, music, food, products and ideas. This year the festival was falling on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd...but has been delayed to SUNDAY because of the forecast.  The 11am to 6pm schedule remains the same.

The Chillicothe Art League invites artists, musicians and organizations from with a 100-mile radius to participate yearly. As always, vendors will offer quality, hand-made art including all types of jewelry, tie-dye items, purses, garden metal sculpture, flint arrow heads and spear heads, forged knives, stone art, functional and decorative ceramics, stained glass, wind chimes, candles, plants & seeds, honey, soaps and baked goods. 

Six local and regional bands will play throughout the day. At 4:00 p.m. is Huntington West Virginia based, Of The Dell, headlining the event. Inside the gallery, visitors can check out the Chillicothe Art League's 19th-Annual Spring Open Exhibition. There are 2 raffles at the art league booth this year, one for a 10” Toca Djembe hand drum donated by BBB Music Center; a hand crafted Hocking Valley Brewing Company Bottle lamp hand crafted and donated by Peared Creation.

The Musical lineup is as follows: At 12 p.m. Alex Holbert. At 1 p.m. Barry Barnes & Friends. At 2 p.m. Second Story String Band. At 3 p.m. The Greater Goods. At 4 p.m. Of The Dell. At 5 p.m. Sweater on Your Dog Weather

Athens-area Ali Baba’s will sell lamb & chicken gyros, goat kabobs, Thai noodles & veggies, chicken satay on a stick, samosas, babaghanu egg rolls, tabouli, couscous and fatoosh salads, falafel sandwiches, hummus spread & pita, lemon shake-ups & desserts. Coffee products available from Two Roasting Joes. Deb’s Dreams will also have baked goods

Participating organizations include the Chillicothe Art League, Pump House Center for the Arts, Chillicothe Ross League of Women Voters, Tecumseh!, Foothill Folk Society, Arc of Appalachia Preserve System, Ross County Master Gardeners, Sojourners Care Network, Foothold International, Ross County Humane Society (with dogs for adoption). No other dogs at the event please.

Activities For the kids: Members of the Chillicothe Art League and students from the National Art Honor Societies of Chillicothe High School and Unioto High School, will help with art projects 11-3 p.m. featuring projects using recycled materials. Sidewalk chalk drawing is available on a nearby basketball court. 

The event is a free to attend but CAL strongly suggests visitors spend money to support the festival. No coolers will be permitted inside the area. Alcohol and drugs are also prohibited. No dogs will be allowed to enter the immediate festival area (inside the vendor circle).  

Again, the inclement weather alternative date for the Earth Gathering will be used:. Sunday April 23rd.
