Hillsboro Says Goodbye to Mother Thompson House

Hillsboro's Mother Thompson House is being demolished.

The Times Gazette reports the house starting coming down Friday. Located on Willow Street, the structure was the home of Eliza Jane Thompson, an advocate for the early 19th Century Temperance Movement which spoke out against the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The house was constructed by former Ohio Governor, Allen Trimble.

The home's owner, Greg Rand, tells the Times Gazette he decided to tear the structure down due to its current state of disrepair. The house was on the market for years but no reasonable offers were made.
