Ross Sheriff Warns of Man Impersonating a Deputy

The Ross County Sheriff's Office is warning the community of a man impersonating a Sheriff's Office employee who attempted to collect money from a residence on Hartwood Road early Thursday morning.

The Sheriff's Office took a report around 7:00 a.m. Thursday that a black male, with yellow hair, knocked on the door of a residence on Hartwood Road and informed the resident they were there to collect on an unpaid parking ticket.

The resident asked for identification and the man claimed to have left it at home. The man was reported to have then left the area in a black Ford Escape with dark tinted windows.

Anyone who may know the identity of the subject, or comes into contact with the man is encouraged to contact the Ross County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff George Lavender says his office does not collect fines an if a duputiy should approach a home, they will all have a badge and photo identification.
