One Arrested, Drugs Seized After Traffic Stop in Ross County

A 49-year-old Ross County man is facing charges of drug possession and tampering with evidence following a traffic stop in northern Ross County, Wednesday.

According to the Ross County Sheriff, George Lavender, his office partnered with the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force for an operation as part of the sheriff's "Stop Trafficking or Pay the Price initiative." 

At approximately 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven south on State Route 104. A sheriff's K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle and a subsequent search was performed. That search yielded approximately 23 grams of suspected Heroin and Drug Abuse Instruments. 

The discovery lead to the execution of a search warrant at a home located at 3518 Stoney Creek Road where Investigators discovered evidence Drug Trafficking.

The driver of the vehicle, Richard Brushart, 49, was arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin and Tampering with Evidence. Further charges are pending the completion of the investigation. 

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit assisted the Task Force in the operation. Investigators from Fayette, Pickaway, and Pike Counties also assisted at the scene of the traffic stop.
