Ohio House Proposing Longer Learner Driving Permit

An Ohio House bill lengthening the learner's driving permit period from six months to one year, and mandating supervised driving to start at 9pm each night, has been introduced as House Bill 293.

Lawmakers are citing 2016 statistics that show 124 people lost their lives and 8,300 people were injured in crashes involving teen drivers. That's a 15-percent increase from the previous year

Triple-A does not say, though, whether that number applies only to Ohio or whether the teen driver was at fault in those crashes.
