Four Ohio teens are now being charged with murder for allegedly tossing a sandbag from a highway overpass and killing a passenger in vehicle below.
The boys, who range in age from 13 to 15, were originally charged with felonious assault after Marquise Byrd, 22, of Warren, Michigan, was struck by the bag as it smashed through the window of the car he was riding in on Interstate 75 in Toledo on December 19th. He passed away last Friday as a result of his injuries.
According to police, the four teens were seen leaving the area of the overpass after the incident.
The teens appeared in juvenile court on Dec. 20 on felonious assault charges, but the charges were increased to include murder on Tuesday following Byrd’s death. All four have pleaded not guilty. They are currently being held without bail at the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center in Toledo.
