WCH Shuts Down Lady Cavs

The stars were not aligned for Coach Beverly and his Lady Cavs as they truly entered a Lions Den on Wednesday night.

Chillicothe had not been in the gym for practice in days, starter Maleah Johnson tweaked an ankle and was scratched from the lineup, and Washington C.H. rolling with a (10-1) record.

The stars proved correct early as the Lady Lions hit four early threes and jumped up 16-2 after one quarter. The Cavs had trouble getting into any offensive flow. Senior Shawnee Smith did return to play midway in the second period after missing several games. Smith’s presence helped a bit as Chillicothe held their own in the second quarter, but still trailed 30-13 at the half.

The Lady Lions balance was too much as they went up by 22 after 3 quarters. Junior Hanna Haithcock led the Lions with 15, while Shawna Conger added 11.

A Chillicothe bright spot was the three point shooting of freshman Julia Hall who hit four from long range to score 12 of the Lady Cavs 21 points.

Chillicothe: J Hall 12; Greene 3; Shawnee Smith 3; Cunningham 3

Washington C.H.: Haithcock 15; Conger 11; Burns 9; Taylor 9; Hines 5; Wall 3; Woods 3; Jenkins 4; Hicks 1
