10 Injured in 8-Vehicle Accident on US 35

Multiple people were hurt in an 8-vehicle accident on US 35, near State Route 159, in Chillicothe, Friday. Officials with the Highway Patrol say Michael Shaw, 56, of Chillicothe, was driving eastbound on US 35 just after 4 p.m. when he traveled off the left side of the road, hit a concrete barrier, went into the right lane, and hit another vehicle, causing his car to overturn.

Authorities say this caused a chain reaction involving 8 vehicles and sending 10 people to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

In Pike County, authorities are investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred at around 7 p.m., Friday. According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Colton Gray, 17, of Lucasville, was driving eastbound on State Route 32, near Coal Dock Road, when a southbound vehicle driven by Jeffrey Hitchcock, 53, of Jackson, failed to yield.

As a result, authorities say Gray's car hit the passenger side of Hitchcock's vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Authorities say Hitchcock was flown to St. Mary's Hospital in West Virginia while Gray was taken to Adena-Pike Medical Center.
