Early Saturday Crash Injures Four in Ross County


The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle injury crash that occurred at about 5am Saturday on U.S. Route 35 in Ross County.


A car driven by 53-year-old Delores Maynard of Camby, Indiana was traveling eastbound on US 35 when it was struck in the rear by a Box Truck, operated by 28-year-old Andrew Evans of Portsmouth, Ohio. Maynard’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway after the crash occurred and came to final rest back on the roadway. Evans’ truck traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned back onto the roadway, blocking both lanes. Maynard's passengers were 54-year-old David Maynard of Point Pleasant, West Virginia and 16-year-old Holly Maynard of Camby, Indiana.


Both Maynards received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Adena Regional Medical Center by Liberty Township EMS. Holly Maynard was transported to the Ohio State University Hospital by MedFlight were her condition is unknown at this time, but her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Evans sustained minor injuries in the crash and refused medical treatment at the scene.


US 35 eastbound lanes were closed for approximately 3.5 hours.
