Two Taken to Grant Hospital After Pike County Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle injury crash that occurred at approximately 7am Tuesday on US Route 23 near Hoffman Lane in Pike County. 


A Semi-Truck driven by 48-year-old Howard C. Whetsel II of Sandusky was turning westbound into a private drive from US 23 when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Tanner A. Alley of Waverly.


Whetsel and his passenger, 50-year-old Aimee M. Whetsel, did not sustain any injuries in the crash. Alley sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown to Grant Medical Center by Med Flight. Alley’s passenger, 20-year-old Willis G. Wells II of Beaver, sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to Grant Medical Center by Portsmouth Ambulance.
