Circleville Council Approves Bike Racks for GOBA

Tuesday evening, Circleville Council helped with setting the stage to accent a big bicycle tour this summer.

"GOBA" is "The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure," and Circleville is on its route this year.

Service Director Don Sherman said the visitors bureau and county park district donated six or seven bike racks and two benches to be installed in downtown Circleville to help promote alternative means of transportation...as well as promote GOBA, which runs June 16-23.

He said this donation was a pretty penny, at maybe $2,000.

Sherman said the racks and benches have already been approved by the planning commission and historic district review board, and some businesses have been asked if they are ok with them mounted in front of their locations.

If works out, businesses are welsome to request more.

Council also hoped to authorize the purchase of two new police cruisers, but they mistakenly lacked companion legislation to fund that, yet.

And as usual for this year so far, council went into executive session to discuss the Berger transition.
