McClain Hires Head Coaches in Football & Boys Basketball

Greenfield's Board of Education has hired new head coaches for both boys basketball and football. McClain High School graduates Joe B. Stewart and Jake Orr-Zody are the new hires, with Stewart heading up basketball and Orr-Zody football.

Joe B. Stewart leaves the coaching job at Madison Plains High School to take the position at his Alma Mater, where he graduated in the mid 1970's. Stewart has held several coaching positions over the years en route to 300+ career wins, including Piketon, Hillsboro, Chillicothe, Miami Trace, and Edgewood. He was the D-2 Ohio Coach of the Year while at Hillsboro in 1989- leading the Indians to an unbeaten regular season and Top 10 ranking. His one coaching stint at the college level was at Southern State.

Joe Stewart took Piketon to the D-3 Regional Semis in 1986 and later took Chillicothe to the D-1 Regional Semi in Canton in 1992-93 where the team fell to Akron Firestone.

Rumors had been circulating for days about Stewart's hire, who was in communication with iHeart Media Sports Monday evening prior to his being hired.

Stewart later took to social media to announce his new position.

On the football side, Jake Orr-Zody was a 2007 McClain grad and was quarterbacks coach for two seasons with Chillicothe before heading to McClain as an assistant the last few seasons.

Jake might be an example of being a "chip off the old block" as his father, Howard, coached at successful programs at both Sparta Highland and Adena High School.
