Man Injured When Tractor and Delivery Truck Collide in Scioto County

A McDermott man was flown to a West Virginia hospital late Tuesday morning following a collision involving delivery truck and a farm tractor.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Roger Shope, 49, of McDermott, failed to yield right-of-way while attempting to cross Henley Deemer Road from a field entrance shortly after 11:00 a.m. on a Kubota tractor, and was struck by a southbound FedEx delivery truck, operated by Timmy Hale, 52, of Chillicothe.

Shope was airlifted from the scene, about one mile south of State Route 348, to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

Neither Hale or his passenger, Marlena Butcher, 56, of Greenfield, required treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
