Zane Trace Heads to District Finals With Big Win Over Athens

The Zane Trace Pioneers upped their record to (20-4) on the season and advanced to the Division 2 Boys District Final with a 48-28 win over Athens at Ohio University's Convocation Center, Thursday night. The Pioneers trailed 5-3 in the first quarter before going on a 16-0 run to take command of the game, leading by double-digits the rest of the game.

Zane Trace will play Fairfield Union at 3pm March 10th in the district final, after the Falcons beat Washington CH 50-39.

ZT led 13-5 after one quarter, 26-11 at half, 38-24 after three, then the 20 point final victory.

The Pioneers had three players in double figures, led by Nick Nesser's 17 points and 8 rebounds. Cam Evans added 15 points and 8 boards and Triton Davidson excelled with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Athens was led by Elijah Williams' 13 points.

Zane Trace's defense was stellar, holding Athens to 12/50 shooting for only 24%- including 1/15 from the arc. Athens was 3/3 at the line. The Pioneers shot 19/46 for 41%- including 2/9 from the arc and 8/11 from the foul line.

ZT won the boards 36-24 and forced 15 Bulldogs turnovers. ZT committed 11.

Athens finished their season at (17-7).
