Hundreds in South Bloomfield Without Power After Tanker Crash on U.S. 23

The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office reporting a traffic accident in South Bloomfield.

According to the office, a tanker truck crashed into a building at Main St. and U.S. 23, bringing down power lines and utility poles. The crash took place around 10:55 Monday morning. The office is advising motorists to avoid the area until the scene can be cleared. Office dispatch was unable to provide an estimated time for how long that might take.

No injuries have been reported, but the driver of the rig was transported to an area hospital. According to the report, a northbound tanker veered left of center, continued across the southbound lanes, where it jumped the curb and took out a series of utility poles before colliding with the business, Kline Vision.

The crash knocked out power to hundreds of residences and businesses. South Central Power was unable to provide an estimate on when electricity will be restored.

7:45 PM: All lanes of US 23 are now open in both directions between SR 316 (North Street) and SR 316 (Ashville Road) in South Bloomfield after a truck crashed into a building earlier this afternoon.
