Burning Jeep Blocks US 35 After Minor Crash Monday

US 35 westbound was blocked for half an hour after a two-vehicle crash led to one catching fire Monday.

The Highway Patrol reported the minor-injury crash was at 4:04pm near State Route 104.

50-year-old Joey Jossett of Summitville, Indiana, was westbound in a 2014 Ford F-150 pick-up when she slowed for traffic.

63-year-old Steven Suthers of Chillicothe failed to maintain assured clear distance and his 2016 Jeep Wrangler struck Jossett's pickup. Suthers was able to pull over and exit his vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.

78-year-old Jay Jossett 81-year-old Janet Jossett, both of Summitville, Indiana, sustained minor injuries in Jossett’s vehicle and were checked by EMS on-scene.

US 35 westbound was closed at State Route 104 for about 30 minutes before Scioto Township and Chillicothe Fire Departments were able to extinguish the vehicle. Scioto Township EMS also assisted on the scene.
