Pike Mother Accused of Directing Assault on Daughter Sentenced to One Year

-

A video posted to social media showing a Pike County mother encouraging two of her older children to assault her young daughter has resulted in a one year jail sentence for the accused.

-

Lindsay Freeland pleaded guilty to a single count each child endangering and domestic violence on Tuesday.

-

The 31-year-old Freeland was charged earlier this month after video of the incident that had circulated on social media was obtained by investigators.

-

That video showed Freeland's two older children striking her 7-year-old daughter at their mother's direction. Authorities say the young girl was struck 45 times by her older siblings.

-

In addition to her jail sentence, Freeland has also been ordered to refrain from all contact with minor children. She must also comply with a case plan issued by Pike County Children's Services. Once released from jail, Freeland will then have to serve three years probation while undergoing drug, alcohol and domestic violence counseling.
