Single West Nile Mosquito Trapped in Ross County

The Ross County Health District announced Monday that a single mosquito sample from last week tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The sample from the Coppel Soccer Complex off Western Avenue is the only one from almost 1,600 samples in Ross County this season to test positive...and only the second in Ohio.

There is no vaccine for the virus, though 80% of of its victims may not show symptoms.

The Health District recommends the "Three D's": Dress appropriately, Dump water, and Defend with repellents to prevent mosquitoes and their bites.
