Ohio Democratic Party Chair Makes Local Visit

The chair of Ohio Democratic party visited Chillicothe Tuesday afternoon at "Steiner's Speakeasy."

.

Based in Cincinnati, David Pepper said he visits Chillicothe periodically, but was here specifically for the party's annual "blue cocktail hour" at locations around the state - it's a pep talk and fundraiser.

.

He was here recently with Senator Elizabeth Warren. He told her she was smart to visit a small town like Chillicothe.

.

Mayor Feeney and some council members and candidates were in the crowd. Pepper said this local level is important, with smaller towns being ignored in Columbus, and politics is more than more than just Washington - so those who focus on only big cities are making a mistake.

He said a party's job is to get servants into positions to make a difference, "to build a bench" to build a strong party."

.

Pepper said it was a good crowd hosted by Steiner's Speakeasy, stoked by "big wins": a rare third term for Senator Sherrod Brown, two Ohio Supreme Court races, and unexpected statehouse victories.
