Chillicothe Women Flown to Columbus Following Three-Car Crash on US 23

A Chillicothe woman was flown to a Columbus hospital on Thursday as the result of a three-vehicle crash along US 23 in Ross County.

According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cristine Fosson, 69, of Chillicothe, was transported by MedFlight to Ohio State University Hospital after her 2012 Toyota Camry was stuck by an on-coming motorist who had veered out of their lane.

The patrol says a 2019 Nissan Altima, operated by Culley Smith, 39, of Pontiac, Michigan, had been traveling southbound along US 23, near Blain Highway, late Thursday morning when her vehicle traveled left of center and across the northbound lanes where it collided with a guardrail.

The vehicle then continued southbound in the northbound lanes where it collided it first collided with Ms. Fosson’s Altima, and then with a second vehicle, a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Eric Heffner, 19, of Waverly.

Mr. Fosson’s injuries are reported to have been non-life threatening. Mr. Smith and Mr. Heffner sustained minor injuries during the crash, but they were treated and released at the scene.

The official caused of the accident is still being determined.
