Disabled American Veterans Claim Workshop Comes to Washington CH, Thursday

Disabled veterans from all over the southern and central Ohio areas are being provided an opportunity this week to make the process of filing a claim for benefits through the Department of Veteran's Affairs, less time consuming and a little less of a headache.

-

“The Cleveland National Service Office is going to bring down its Mobile Service Office and help veterans and veterans families,” said Mark Sestina, Treasurer for Disabled American Veterans Chapter 83. “The DAV will be an advocate for the veterans or their families for claims or any other service they need through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

-

During the workshop, Disabled American Veterans (DVA) personnel will file qualifying claims right then and there, and they'll also follow through until the completion of the claim. It's an important service for both veterans and their families, says Sestina.

-

“This is very important for veterans and their families because the VA has specific requirements when it comes to filing these claims, and a lot of boils down to verbiage,” said Sestina. “You can say one particular word in you claim process, and if that word does not meet the department’s standard operating procedure, then the claim gets denied.”

-

The disabled veterans claim workshop is free of charge and will take place this Thursday, August 22nd at the VFW Post 3762 in Washington CH, located at 335 Veterans Way, with DAV representatives on hand from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Food and refreshment will be served.

-

“The power of the DAV behind the veterans, makes it that much quicker and more productive when it comes to getting a claim processed,” said Sestina.

-

Veterans, or their family members, will want to bring the claimant's certificate of release or discharge from active duty (DD Form 214), and their social security card.

-

“This is a free service, and it’s the best you can get,” said Sestina. “I just hope that vets and their families will give us a look. We will take any veteran from anywhere, it doesn’t matter where they are, or their family members.”
