August Traffic Stops Yield Drug Seizures in Ross, Jackson Counties

A West Virginia woman has been charged with felony drug possession as the result of a traffic stop in Ross County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers stopped a 2012 Toyota Camry with West Virginia plates for a marked lane violation on U.S. 23 shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Monday, August 12th.

A passenger in the vehicle, Kayla Bledsoe, 26, of Huntington, informed troopers there were illegal drugs inside the vehicle and a subsequent probable-cause search revealed 129 grams of suspected heroin worth approximately $12,900.

Ms. Bledsoe was taken into custody on a first-degree felony charge of possession of heroin, and transported to the Ross County Jail. She faces up to 11 years incarceration and a fine of up to $20,000 if convicted.

The State Patrol also seized around three pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Jackson County on August 18th. The stop took place shortly after 10:00 p.m. on U.S. 35. The drugs were valued at a little more than $103,000.

Three people face charges of possession and trafficking in the case. Latifah L. Manns, 29; and passengers Joshua J. Allen, 28; and Thomas L. Roberson Jr., 34, all of Pontiac, Michigan face first-degree felony charges and could receive up to 22 years in prison and a fine of up to $40,000 if found guilty.
