Westfall Volleyball is for real, when it comes to being an SVC title contender this fall. The Mustangs ran their conference record to (6-0) with a (25-13, 26-28, 27-25, 25-17) win at home over Adena, Thursday. The Warriors fall to (4-2) in the SVC and are tied with Zane Trace, who was a five-set winner over Piketon.

After falling behind 3-0 in Set 1, Westfall took control and breezed to the 25-13 victory.

Set 2 started with Westfall building leads of 9-3 before the Warriors went on a 10-0 run for a 13-9 advantage. But, the Mustangs took-off on a streak of their own, going 9-0 before Adena scored again. Trailing 18-13, Adena rallied again for a 22-20 lead, then 23-22. The Warriors had four set-points, before tying the match with a 28-26 win.

Set 3 went back and forth early, before Westfall pushed forward with leads of 16-11, 20-14 and 22-17. The Warriors had one more push in them as they pulled to within 22-21, then trailed 23-21. Trailing 24-23, Adena held-off set-point on two occasions and tied it at 25-25, only to see the Mustangs score the last two points for a 27-25 win and a (2-1) lead.

Set 4 saw Westfall break-away from a 2-2 tie and go on to a 25-17 match win.

Westfall was led by senior Josie Williams with 24 kills and 26 digs, followed by Kristin Phillips 23 kills, 19 digs, 2 solo blocks and 2 block assists. Lauren Daniels had 20 digs and 3 serving aces, Kayla Fleischmann had 11 digs, Claire Latham 10 digs and two block assists, while Grace Wolfe added 13 digs and Hailey Young with 9.

Ellie Harper and Jenna Martin led Adena, each with 11 kills. Makenna Lovely added 8, while Makaela Lovely and Hannah Burns each had 4. Burns added 3 block assists and Martin with a solo and 2 block assists. Olivia Riley led the defense with 24 digs, Makenna Lovely 17, Ari DaRif 12 and 11 from Hope Garrison. Makenna Lovely had 4 ace serves, DaRif and Riley each had 3 aces.
