Front of Historic Portsmouth Building Falls

The front of a historic building in Portsmouth collapsed Saturday evening, one block from Winterfest.

ABC 6 reports 2nd Avenue and the sidewalk were closed after the facade fell from the mid nineteenth-century building that is believed to have been used by an important figure in the Underground Railroad.

Late Monday afternoon a team of architects and engineers looked at the building to develop a short-term plan to shore it up and start reconstruction as soon as possible.
