One Teen Dead, Another Injured in Pickaway County Crash on Monday

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office has released details on a fatal single-vehicle accident from Monday that took place along a stretch of State Route 104. That accident took place around 11:10 a.m. just north of State Route 316.

Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff reports a 17-year-old male was killed when the 2011 Honda Pilot he was riding in as a passenger, veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with guardrail. The impact caused a section of the guardrail to pierce the vehicle’s grill before it continued on through the vehicle’s cab and out the rear of the vehicle. The 17-year-old teen killed has been identified as Trey Collier, a student at Westfall High School.

The driver of the vehicle, a second 17-year-old male, was transported by Harrison Township Fire to Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus with apparent minor injuries.

The Ohio Department of Transportation, South Bloomfield Police, The State Highway Patrol, and fire and EMS units from Harrison and Scioto Townships assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
