Fatal Traffic Crashes Increase During the 2019 Christmas Holiday

There was an increase in fatal vehicle accidents on Ohio roadways this Christmas Holiday. Provisional statistics released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on Thursday show there were twelve people who lost their lives over the patrol’s two-day reporting period, which lasted from 12:00 a.m. Tuesday through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. It’s an increase over figures announced in 2018 and 2017.

This year's fatal crashes include an accident in Dayton on Christmas day that claimed the lives of four people and left three children in critical condition. Another took place in Madison County on Christmas day which claimed the life of a Hilliard woman when her vehicle ended up in a pond just south of Plain City.

Other fatal crashes were reported to have occurred in Hamilton, Muskingum, Carroll, Wayne, Van Wert and Cuyahoga counties.
