Saturday Crash in Fayette County Leaves Two Men Injured

Two men, one from Chillicothe, the other from Washington CH, were taken to Columbus area hospitals this past Saturday evening as the result of a single-vehicle crash in Fayette County.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, Heath A. Gordon, 44, of Chillicothe, was traveling east along Washington-Waterloo Road just west of State Route 207 in Marion Township, a little before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29th, when he is reported to have lost control of his 1999 Chevy Silverado and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The truck is reported to have entered a ditch where it collided with a utility pole before overturning multiple times, and coming to rest on its top.

Mr. Gordon was entrapped inside the truck’s cab and had to be extricated by first responders. His passenger, Scott A. Duffy, 38, of Washington CH, was reportedly unrestrained during the crash and ejected from the vehicle. Both Mr. Gordon and Mr. Duffy were airlifted by Med-Flight helicopters from the scene in serious condition and taken to Columbus hospitals.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Pic-A-Fay Fire Department, the Tri-County Joint Fire District, Bloomingburg-Paint-Marion Township Fire Department, Fayette County EMS and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Rescue Unit, The Fayette County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, Box 65 Scene Support and Dayton Power& Light.
