Ohio High Court Rules Against Speeders vs Radar Gun

Speeders in Ohio can be convicted without an expert witness testifying about how laser speed detectors work.

The Ohio Supreme Court released their 6-1 ruling after a case involving a speeding ticket from the Cleveland area ended up on their docket. The offender had argued that without an expert witness to establish the reliability of the scientific principles of the detector's technology, the results of the detector could not be admitted as evidence.

The high court 's ruling addresses a conflict with other appeals court rulings, while also saying a court must still prove the accuracy of the actual device used, and that the machine was operated properly.
