Hillsboro Attorney Appointed To 4th District Court of Appeals

A Hillsboro attorney has been appointed to Ohio’s Fourth District Court of Appeals.

Kristy S. Wilkin has been appointed to the appellate court by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and will assume office on August 3rd.

Wilkin replaces Judge Matthew McFarland who was appointed as Judge of the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio by President Donald Trump.

Wilkin is the wife of Shane Wilkin, Representative for Ohio’s 91st House District. She must run for election on November 3rd, 2020 for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends February 8th, 2023. The Fourth District presides over Adams, Athens, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton and Washington counties.

Wilkin is currently a partner at Peelle Law Offices Co., LPA in Hillsboro, Ohio. She has served as an adjunct professor at Southern State Community College and held a judicial externship in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

A former NCAA Division I athlete, Wilkin graduated cum laude from Xavier University with a degree in Accounting and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class at the Ohio Northern University, Petit School of Law. Wilkin also served as the associate editor of the Law Review.

Wilkin serves on the Board of Trustees of Southern State Community College, is a member of the Highland County Chamber of Commerce Board, and is a member of both the Highland and Clinton County Bar Associations. She also is a member of the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute.
