Local iHeartMedia Teams Welcomes New Sports & News Director.

We'll be adding a new team member to our local iHeartMedia crew in the coming days.

Longtime news and sports personality Marty Bannister will be taking over as News & Sports Director for our Chillicothe, Washington CH and Hillsboro radio stations.

Marty’s extensive career has included stints with the Ohio News Network (ONN) and ESPN Radio. He’s also a former Ohio State University announcer and sideline reporter, and works now with the Ohio University Bobcats. Marty has also covered high school games for the Ohio High School Athletic Association radio network.

“I started in the business in 1981,” said Bannister. “I’ve worked on Ohio State games. I do a lot of work now Ohio University on ESPN3 on their football and basketball radio networks. I’ve been a part of ONN, the Ohio News Network for many years. I’ve called Wittenburg football and basketball and have been on the Ohio High School Athletic Association radio network for years. I’ve worked pretty much about everywhere in the state, and there’s no place I would rather be than doing this.”

Marty brings a wealth of news and sports radio experience to our team, and says he's excited to take on this new role.

“I’m excited about this. People rely on their radio stations in communities this size for their information,” said Bannister. The first thing in the morning… where are you going? You’re flipping the car radio on or turning on the radio when you’re around the coffee pot at work to find out what’s going on in your community, and that’s what these radio stations are all about.”

There will be a brief training period, but after that, Marty will be heard weekday mornings on news and sports, and will cover our local high school sports broadcasts.
