Hillsboro Man Arrested Following Saturday Police Pursuit

Police in Hillsboro were lead on a brief pursuit following an attempted traffic stop from Saturday.

According to a media release, the incident took place shortly before 9:00 p.m. Saturday when an officer attempted a traffic stop in the 600-block of North High Street.

The black Honda came back with fictitious registration and the driver sped away at a high rate of speed. The pursuit was halted when the driver lost control during a curve and crashed into a fence row along State Route 771 west toward Leesburg.

A while male wearing a black hoodie fled from the vehicle on foot and was quickly apprehended.

The driver was identified as Clayton T. Collins, 24. of Hillsboro, who had been wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. He was charged with third-degree felony fleeing and eluding, and fictitious plates. It was also found that Mr. Collins’ driving privileges had revoked under a child support suspension.
