One Person Flown to Columbus Hospital Following Shooting in Waverly

Police in Waverly are investigating a non-fatal shooting that took place over the weekend.

In a release on Monday, Interim Waverly Police Chief John Winfield said officers were called to the area of 238 Saint Mary’s Lane on Sunday to find the victim, Blaine Hubbard III with a gunshot wound to the neck area. He was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.

The suspect was identified as Deric Lansing. He was quickly located and taken into custody without incident and has been charged with felonious assault.

The case will be forwarded to the Pike County Prosecutor’s Office once the investigation is complete.

Witnesses at the scene stated Lansing and Hubbard had engaged in an argument prior to the shooting.
