Chillicothe is set to become a Purple Heart City.

A Purple Heart City is named for the US Military’s oldest decorative medal, the Purple Heart. The designation is meant to honor and remember members of America’s armed services, who have either been wounded or killed in combat.

The ceremony is set to take place during Monday’s Council meeting will include the Honor Guard and a special presentation.

Monday’s Council meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be live streamed on both the City accounts for facebook and Youtube.

The Purple Heart City designation will also be commemorated during a special ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, which is intended to allow for public participation, but a date and time for that has yet to be announced.
