Blue Lions Prepare for Annual Homecoming Game, Parade Set for Wednesday

The Washington Blue Lions are preparing for the annual homecoming football game, coming up this Friday, September 10th at Gardner Park. They'll be hosting the Minford Falcons. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m.

First though, coming up on this Wednesday evening, student athletes, organizations and the Blue Lion Marching Band will parade from Washington High School to Garder Park. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight and will proceed out of the school parking lot by making a right onto Willard Street, a left onto Columbus Avenue, left onto Main Street, and then right onto Circle Avenue. The parade will then conclude at Gardner Park.

Friday's homecoming game event itself will feature a performance from the Blue Lion Alumni Band as members perform a variety of hit tunes from the Doobie Brothers. The Blue Lions Alumni Cheerleaders will also participate in the homecoming festivities.

As the Blue Lions take the field for the annual Homecoming game, they will be greeted by graduates of Washington High School. The school is inviting all former football players of the Blue and White to help build the traditional alumni tunnel during the pregame festivities on September 10th.

Alumni football members will begin to form the tunnel on either side of the gate outside of the playing field fence near the historic fieldhouse at 6:40 p.m.
