A Wednesday evening single vehicle crash in Pike County has claimed a life. 61-year-old James Lee Combs of Piketon was traveling eastbound on Sugar Run Road when he lost control of his Ford Escape on veered off the left side of the road, and struck a tree. Combs, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, impairment is not suspected to have played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
