Two-Vehicle Crash in Fayette County Claims Life of Washington CH Woman

A two-vehicle crash in Fayette County claimed the life of a Washington CH woman, Tuesday.

Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth reports that Rebecca Knauff, 53, of Washington CH, was killed Tuesday morning when her 1997 Toyota SUV as struck by an oncoming semi along US 62.

Sheriff Stanforth says Knauff was in the process of turning south onto US 62 from Bloomingburg-New Holland Road at around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday when her vehicle was stuck by a semi that had been traveling north along US 62.

The impact caused Knauff’s vehicle to overturn trapping her inside. Knauff was extracted from the wreck and transported to Fayette-Adena Hospital. She was later transferred to Grant Hospital in Columbus where she succumbed to her injuries.

An unidentified passenger in Knauff’s vehicle sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Fayette-Adena. The driver of the rig and a second passenger in Knauff’s vehicle were not injured.
