Ohio Democratic Lawmakers File Legislation to Delay Primary Election

Two Democratic state Senators are proposing a bill to delay Ohio's primary election. Introduced by state Senators Tina Maharath and Cecil Thomas, Senate Bill 316 would move the primary from May 3rd to June 28th.

Democrats say the delay is necessary since the Ohio Redistricting Commission has failed to draw maps that follow the state's anti-gerrymandering law.

The bill was introduced in the Senate after the Ohio Supreme Court said only the General Assembly has the authority to change the date.
