The lawyer for the man accused of raping and impregnating a ten-year-old girl who had an abortion in Indiana says his client is scared.
Bryan Bowen appeared in court Friday during a preliminary hearing for 27-year-old Gerson Fuentes. Fuentes was not in court after being indicted by a Franklin County grand jury Thursday on two counts of rape.
Columbus police say Fuentes originally admitted to the crime but his lawyer says he expects his client to plead not guilty.
Ohio's Right to Life president is insisting a ten-year-old rape survivor didn't have to leave the state to get an abortion.
During a panel discussion on abortion Wednesday, Mike Gonidakis said the state's Heartbeat Law allows for some exceptions. He said that includes to save a woman's life or to prevent substantial or irreversible health effects.
He said those guidelines mean a doctor could've legally performed the abortion in the Buckeye State.
