DriveOhio to deploy self-driving vehicles in Vinton, Athens Counties

Efforts to expand automated vehicle technology are continuing in the Buckeye State.

DriveOhio is set to launch deployments of self-driving vehicles on public roadways in central and southeastern Ohio.

Three automated passenger cars will be operated in Athens and Vinton counties to test them in various real-world driving conditions.

A second deployment is placing self-driving trucks on the U.S. 33 Smart Mobility Corridor in Franklin and Union counties.

In both cases the automated vehicles will be overseen by human drivers who can intervene in their operation.
