Kenneth Mortimer Sworn in as New Chillicothe VA Medical Director

Staff members gathered in a packed conference room to witness the virtual swearing-in ceremony of new Executive Medical Center Director, Kenneth Mortimer on the morning of Monday, March 27th, 2023.

Before the virtual ceremony, Mr. Mortimer officially met with the service chiefs in a round table “huddle” to meet the team, as well as to get a better feel for the people he would be working alongside. Despite being the newest addition to the team, Mortimer wasted no time getting acquainted, by sharing stories and telling jokes.

“As much as this is a big day for me, it’s also a big day for the medical center.”, Mortimer said. He went on to address the changes the Chillicothe VA has gone through over the past year and says he is looking forward to getting straight to business. “I’ve got my running shoes on. It’s important to get out there and get to know this wonderful staff and see how this campus operates. I’m definitely excited.”

VISN 10 Network Director, Laura Ruzick, offered words of encouragement shortly before Mortimer took his oath. “Chillicothe is really thrilled to have a permanent director, and we are really anticipating great things from you as you begin this leadership journey.”, she stated via a Teams call. “I’m really honored to be supporting you as you take this next step in your career and want to welcome you.”

Surrounded by family and his new team, Mr. Mortimer raised his right hand and took his oath, pledging his service to the Chillicothe VA, the staff, and most importantly the Veterans of the community. “I cannot begin to tell you how honored I am to be a part of your team. I am hopeful that soon we can call it our team. I look forward to working with each of you.”, he said following his oath.
