An 81-year-old Chillicothe man was killed this week in a single-vehicle crash in Pickaway County.
According to Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew Hafey, Jimmy Risner, 81, of Chillicothe, was killed when his southbound 2011 Ford Edge went off the left side of State Route 138 in Pickaway County’s Deercreek Township this past Tuesday, May 9th.
The Sheriff’s Communications Center was notified of the crash at 5:41 p.m. Tuesday. The caller informed dispatcher’s the vehicle was on fire.
At the scene, officers determined the vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a utility pole before continuing on through a field until it struck a culvert. The impact with the culvert caused the vehicle to overturn onto its top. The car then reportedly caught fire. Risner was pronounced deceased as the scene.
Sheriff Hafey said in Thursday’s release that the specific cause of the crash remains under investigation.
