Ross County Grand Jury, October 11th: Don’t Kick in Your Neighbor’s Door

The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 15 of their cases on Friday, October 11th, 2024, with two open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:

On August 17th, Chillicothe Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 400 block of Western Avenue in reference to a disturbance.

The victim said she had had an argument with 34-year-old Robert L. Ray Jr. of the next-door apartment, who said he wanted to fight her boyfriend.

When she went out to move her car, she saw him kick in her apartment door and walk in. He saw her call the police, and he was last seen running around the back of the apartment.

After being arrested, he said there would be a house video camera that showed he had not kicked in the door, but the camera had not been placed to show that.

For indictments on burglary, Ray could get up to 18 months and $5,000 in fines.
