Carrie Underwood Calls Co-Producing New Album a 'Natural Evolution'

Readying her new album for the world to hear brought out a new skill in Carrie Underwood.The country megastar reveals in a trailer for hew sixth-studio album Cry Pretty that producing her first project made sense. I had been working with David Garcia on the writing side of things,” Carrie explains of the songwriter who became her co-producer. “We just really hit it off. The first song that we wrote together is on the album, so it was kind of like, ‘I like this guy. [Let’s] write with him again.’” Carrie previously called producing a “challenging and incredibly rewarding” experience and adds in the trailer that her band made the process easier. “There’s certain chemistry the comes together when there’s a band there and everybody feeds off of each other,” she says. “We got a lot of guys that I had worked with before and some that I hadn’t, and everybody brought it.” Related: Carrie Underwood Gives Health Update: 'About 90% There'Carrie also revealed she decided to name the album after its first single because it “sets the tone” and features “themes that go throughout the rest of the album.” Cry Pretty is due out September 14.
