Cavs Wrestlers Conclude Season at Districts


First Round Consolations Wins

At 170 Joseph Hilliard had the match of the Second Round Consolations with the crowd getting loud and involved until the very end.

Unfortunately Hilliard came up short 15-13 in the first overtime. Hilliard was down by 6 points  in the third period with a minute left in the match.

However fought back to be down by one point with under 45 seconds left in the match after catching Corey  Hill (Olentangy) to his back. Hilliard was not able to secure the fall for the win.

Hilliard then let Hill escape with 20 seconds remaining, with under 10 seconds left, Hilliard was in position for the score, and then ducked behind with time the time running out in the period. The referee did not call the take down.

After Chillicothe’s staff approached the table, the first referee met with the second referee and the take down was called. In overtime, Hilliard was in deep with a shot that was actually close to a pin fall, however a stalemate was called. Seconds later Hill of Olentangy was able to secure a takedown and the win.

 

Rest of the Chillicothe team went down fighting however was unable to secure any district placers.

Four of the Five qualifiers will return with some experience next season.

Joseph Hilliard was the Cavs last senior. The team would like to wish Joe the best of luck in the future.
