Shania Twain kicked off the weekend with “a nostalgic, guitar-driven anthem with a rebellious rock-and-blues spirit.”
Twain joined forces with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age to bring “Faded Blue Jeans” to life. It’s one of 15 tracks appearing on Twain’s upcoming seventh studio record, and the final track to release before the full album arrives later this month. Twain, the sole wrote of the anthem, “captures the intensity of first love and teenage defiance,” states a press release issued Friday morning (July 10). “Inspired by one of Twain's own teenage relationships, the song reflects on the unwavering belief that young love could last forever. Driven by gritty production and infectious energy, it channels the rebellious rock and blues that shaped Twain's youth while celebrating the freedom, confidence, and emotion of growing up.” The release adds that “Homme’s unmistakable vocals bring a raw edge to the track.”
“Faded Blue Jeans” follows Little Miss Twain’s title track — which features Country Music Hall of Fame member Tanya Tucker — and “Dirty Rosie.” The project is hailed Twain’s “most personal work” of her career. She previously shared that “a lot of Little Miss Twain is reflective of my teens, my roots as well as the energy of the rock and R&B I loved so much, but still with that Western twang. Where I’m from you don’t go anywhere on a horse — you go on a snowmobile. I was dreaming about the Western lifestyle and I was living in a very different world than where I ended up.”
