A study on the structural integrity of the Chillicothe Scioto River Flood Wall, was never finished due to a lack of funding. That has the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security still seeking that information, precipitated following levy failures in New Orleans in Hurricane Katrina.

Mayor Jack Everson says the city needs to get a flood study completed, concerning the structural integerity of the flood wall.

Construction of flood walls and dams in the region in the last 40-50 years, mean a much smaller chance of flooding, with only the park annex facing a 1% chance of a 300-year-flood.
